Shoulder Tendinitis: Dynamic Osteopaths
This a condition whereby injury to a tendon within of your shoulder becomes irritated and inflamed. Commonly when there is an acute bout of inflammation this is know a shoulder tendinitis. But you may have come across teams such as rotator cuff tendinosis or tendinopathy, implying that the inflammation has more of a chronic nature and may be associated with degeneration (wear and tear).
Shoulder tendinitis is commonly caused from repetitive microtrauma to the rotator cuff tendons and often tendon impingement at the shoulder, causing the rotator cuff tendon becomes inflamed and swollen. Shoulder tendinitis can also be commonly associated with shoulder bursitis.
Shoulder Tendonitis Treatment
Our approach at Dynamic Osteopaths is to initially provide early protection, pain relief via reducing local inflammation and advise on anti-inflammatories. We will guide you through a full range of a range of pain relieving techniques including joint mobilisations, massage, acupuncture or dry needling to assist you and promote a speedy recovery. Shoulder tendonitis may take several weeks to recover, of which during this time period you should be aiming to optimally remould your scar tissue formed from the inflammation.
